Berkshire Youth are appealing for donations to help them complete the refurbishment of the Waterside Centre in Newbury.

Berkshire Youth has recently taken on the Waterside Centre in Newbury and is now working hard to raise the remaining funds needed to turn it into a centre for young people fit for the 21st century. Building and refurbishment work needs to be completed to turn it into a place where young people aged 10 to 18 can access a wide range of activities and positive influences that will support, empower and inspire them. The activities will respond to issues facing young people in West Berkshire today including obesity and poor diet, sedentary lifestyles, mental health issues, risk of exploitation through County Lines and involvement in anti-social behaviour. Berkshire Youth’s revitalised Waterside Centre will provide a meeting place, a programme of activities that help young people in their development and transition to adolescence and adulthood and opportunities to lift their aspirations, boost their self-esteem and inspire them to realise their potential. The Waterside Centre will be open to all young people to attend, including those from the most disadvantaged backgrounds for whom daily life is full of challenges.
The redevelopment of the Waterside Centre is costing a grand total of £1.5 million. So far, £901,488 has been raised, which has funded the work so far. A further £623,821 is needed to complete the project.
