West Berkshire Council is being criticised for the way it is handling the Newbury town centre conservation area.
The area was created in 1971 to manage development so that heritage buildings are not compromised.
But The Newbury Society says that an official appraisal of the area, while long overdue, is now being put through in a very short period.
The council is proposing to add some parts of Newbury to the conservation area and take some away – including West Street.
You have until February 23rd to respond to the public consultation on the Newbury Town Centre Conservation Area Appraisal and Management plan.
