If you’ve been putting off the task of writing your will, this could be a good month to finally do it.
October is “Free wills month”, when a group of well respected UK charities offer members of the public aged over 55 years the chance to have their simple wills written or updated by participating solicitors – free of charge.
The charities involved depend on legacies left in wills, so this is also an opportunity for you to be generous to your favourite good causes.

Charities involved in this scheme must comply with the Code of Fundraising Practice, which is linked below.
The role of the Fundraising Regulator includes developing and maintaining the UK-wide Code of Fundraising Practice and investigating complaints from members of the public about fundraising practice if these cannot be resolved by the charities themselves. The Fundraising Regulator can be contacted on 0300 999 3407 or by letter or email using the details in their webpage which is linked to below.
