The Waterside Centre in Newbury is fully operational after a thorough refurbishment. It is run by Berkshire Youth.
One of the regular activities at the centre is the weekly Community Larder.
This is a membership scheme which provides healthy, affordable food to people across West Berkshire. It is open to anyone who wants to prevent food waste and save money.
It offers the benefits of saving on your food shopping. It is not means-tested, there is good quality produce and it helps to reduce food waste. All the food on offer is surplus to the supply chain and would otherwise go to landfill.
The larder is open every Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm at the Waterside Centre, Waldegrave Place, Newbury RG14 1DS which can be accessed by walking down the alley between Costa and Boots in Northbrook Street.
The food comes from a Didcot-based charity called SOFEA, who provide surplus food, training and opportunities to young people and organisations.
Membership entitles you to access to surplus food, local business discounts and additional services. It is also an opportunity to meet new people in a friendly environment.
