A Newbury distillery has gone from producing gin to hand sanitizer in a remarkable effort to help their local community during the Coronavirus outbreak. The guys from 137 Gin have already produced their first batch and are now looking for donations from the public to help them make more.
“We have limited stock of the ethanol 96%, glycerol 98% and hydrogen peroxide 3% needed and a limited stock of bottles,” the distillery have said. They are looking to raise £3,000 to produce another batch, with the distillers working for free to make the gel, which will meet all of the World Health Organisation’s guidelines.
They are also looking for any care homes, charities or any other local groups that provide vital services to come forward if they need any hand sanitizer, which will be provided for free.
