This weekend, Greenham Common Control Tower will be marking the 75th anniversary of VJ Day – the end of the Second World War.
There’ll be a special display of period vehicles on Saturday plus guided tours of a new exhibition entitled “Newbury Area during World War II”.
Come along and learn some surprising things about Newbury and area in the war!
Supervised tours of the tower, on Saturday and Sunday, will be for groups of no more than 6 people. The first tour is at 11.00, then at 11.40, 12.20, 1.00 and 1.40.
There is no need to book online. People can just turn up at the tower and sign up for the tour they want. Visitors will need to have their own face mask. The tours are free but the tower is run by volunteers so a donation is appreciated. While visitors are waiting for their tour, or after it, they can enjoy a drink and snack from the Control Tower café which is operating an outdoor service.
The Control Tower will be open on Saturday and Sunday, plus every weekend from now on.
