Marking the 40th anniversary of the Greenham Peace Women arriving at Greenham Common, Greenham Control Tower is running a programme of educational and interactive events and activities over the weekend of 4th and 5th September.
Covering all perspectives of the Greenham Peace Protests, this engaging programme features stories from military personnel and police who served during the period, Newbury residents, and the Greenham Peace Women themselves.
Coinciding with the arrival of the Greenham Women Everywhere march, the programme has been building up to the anniversary weekend on 4th – 5th September with free workshops and events for everyone. The ‘Both sides of the fence’ exhibition also opens Saturday 4th September at Greenham Control Tower.
Greenham Common Control Tower trustee, Andy Kempe, said:
“Come along and find out more about the protests and the wider impact it had on local communities, national policies, and of course the women themselves. This significant historic event needs to be commemorated and explored. Having a profound impact on Britain’s Cold War history, The Greenham Peace Women 40th Anniversary is of local and national importance. This is part of our history which needs to be passed on to younger generations.”
