Whilst we are all spending our time being locked down, what better time to listen to some new local music.
Local singer/songwriter Frank Quinn has teamed up with fellow musicians to write, produce & record his third album, Blue Hearts and Purple Flowers.
Recorded locally between 2018 – 2020 the album is a mix of bluesy folk, country and soft rock.
Kennet Radio’s Ray Wilton recently interviewed Frank on his Monday Monthly show to discuss the album. This is what Frank said:
People have described it as alternative rock and Americana, but you know what, it’s my music! I love telling stories. This, if you like is my virtual cigarette at the end of a hard day at work.
Kennet Radio’s Steve Prout has been listening to the album. “From the opening violins on track one “Pretends” to the upbeat rock guitar on track two “Never happened before” this is certainly an album of contrasts.
“When I listened to the album, some of the tracks had an early Dire Straits feel to them, which is an immense compliment to the group.”
There are also some very good instrumental performances on the album too, with contributions from Trumpet, Lap Steel, Organ, Violin & Banjo as well as the usual Piano, Drums & Guitar.
Of the group Frank said:
We use some first class musicians from the Newbury area, there is massive talent in this area.

All the net proceeds are being shared between two charities – Hope and Homes for Children (Blue Hearts) and End Polio Now (Purple Flowers).
