An exciting range of new initiatives are being set in place at the East Woodhay Village Hall for the East Woodhay, Woolton Hill and wider Hampshire/Berkshire local Communities, The Hall continues to be in regular use by a number of different groups and associations, as it has since first being gifted to the Community in 1938. The local Women’s’ Institute, Short Mat Bowls Club, Yoga groups, Pilates, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers, pottery classes, toddler groups and more all use the hall on a regular basis but there is space in the schedule for more.
The Hall is a beautiful spacious building with a kitchen, meeting room, stage area, parking and a Childrens’ outdoor playpark, looking out over our (very photogenic!) beautiful countryside. The Hall is only 15 minutes from central Newbury and easily accessible from the A34/A343.
Unfortunately, as with many charities in the current economic climate, funds are tight. In recent times, a play cafe operated from the Hall offering daily snacks and some amazing Sunday lunches but this has now closed. Without such regular income it may be hard to keep the hall going. The Hall Committee is looking for a long-term regular user for the Hall such as a Playgroup or Café. chloe@ewvh.org would love to hear from any kind of business, be it a gym, weddings/events planner, cafe, or something else.
The Hall Committee has recently launched a chance to “win big” in support of the hall. A ‘100 Club’ Lottery now allows any member of the west Berkshire & north Hampshire community to support the Hall and win a cash prize each month. Tickets to join the Lottery cost £10 per month each (or £110 for a full year) and anyone can sign up at bit.ly/EWVH100.”
There is also plenty of scope for more bookings of the hall by individuals – parties, weddings, exercise/training coaching, meetings and the like. If you’re interested in finding out more or booking, just google “east woodhay village hall”.
Without more support the future of the hall may be looking doubtful – The Committee hopes that by raising its profile and seeking support from the Community served by the Hall, it’s future can be assured.
