Four local men have arrived at John O’Groats after cycling the length of Great Britain for charities.
Harry Kitchin, Tom Clifton, Sam Boreham and Matt Jefferies, all from Newbury and Thatcham, rode the length of Great Britain from Land’s End in Cornwall.
It took them two weeks to ride 1,515 kilometres through appalling storm conditions, while ascending 13,000 metres.
What’s more, they have smashed their charity fund-raising target. They had set a target to raise £3,000, but their total currently stands at a fantastic £6,087.50.
The lads have chosen these four charities for the cash:
- The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, which helps young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- International Rescue Committee UK, which helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict.
- Alzheimer’s Research, the leading dementia and Alzheimer’s disease research charity.
- CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), who are leading a huge movement against suicide.
